Welcome to my Audi pages, this site is all about the Audi
"C" platform (type44) & my ex-car, a late 1989 Audi 100 QUATTRO (U.S.
spec.). I also have some information related to the type 44 also
known as the AUDI 100/200/v8/ from 1982-to the last V8 of 1995. The
PROJECT
T44 pages document all of my restoration and rebuild which I did
around the late 90s to early 2000s on my project car called "project T-44". In some of the following
pages I give some interesting details about this fabulous chassis which
Audi used as one of the premier packages that would change history for
Audi and the mechanical components related to the vehicle.
where applicable I have included pictures as much as possible. I also have a section for my other Audi's, basically just documents the progress of how I got with the whole Audi stuff. The first Audi of course was a type44 model. I think by now I must have owned just above any version available as a type44 model including the newest A V8. Of course I also enjoy the 80's 90's even 4000 series but my heart falls every time for a type44. Since this is a project car I also thought I would show what cars I had done previously, none of my earlier project cars were Audi's because at my age when young any new Audi especially the coupe quattro's (my dream car as young gear head) were EXPENSIVE for a kid so I resorted to simpler cars or it may seem like that except after what I did with them. You can see my past history prior to Audi under HISTORY CARS. Every thing in there from American muscle to exotic French. While on that word exotic I started playing around with stainless steel earlier on (late 1990s) in stages of this project as to try to make this really challenging so I started playing around with stainless and kind of over did it and then went to the next step and started my own business not with just stainless steel but Audi parts as well. As of 2002 I started a company called CUSTOM-AUTO-CRAFT I basically wanted to start making parts for the older cars on my own and to challenge the price problems we (Audi enthusiasts) see everyday. I design, develop, test, and make most of the stuff I sell mostly based on knowledge from all that I have gathered over the years with tinkering around with cars and Audi's. So on to some History, the C3 platform also known as type 44 chassis started production in late 1981, and was developed on the C2 platform (previous model). The type 44 model ranged from a simple 4 cyl. model found in Europe to the 2.2 turbo's found all over the world and the v8 which was produced also in china in limited numbers for the China/Asian market, FAW as it's known produces several types of the C3 (CA7000 series) in China under license from AUDI. I have started a separate page on FAW some time back just to document these cars as they may pose solutions to problems encountered on my project car. Problems can range from missing or rare hard to find parts to modifications, See the FAW pages (These are temporarily offline) for more details and pictures of the FAW C3'S. The 100 was also produced In South Africa but as a simple model (no Quattro's were available ). The Audi 400, (1.8 4 cyl. carburetor) was the most simple of models their. The 500, 500E & 500SE came with the 2.2 5cyl with the K-jetronic. the 500 type 44 series lasted until 1992 in South Africa aside from maybe a higher ride height these cars were pretty much like the Euro versions. The C4's were later introduced and also carried the same 500, 500E & 500se going for the v6 models. As some may know the type 44 chassis had some similarity to the "Passat / (US - quantum ) platform which was actually based on the B2 platform (audi 4000, 80, 90, coupe). Anyway the passat chassis was and is built also in Brazil and China this car is called the SANTANA and comes in sedan or wagon model. The Santana has similarities in chassis to the type44 except for some changes on the front sub-frame and the under chassis. I hope to have more details on this as time progresses. On the FAW (see FAW pages) site you can get more links to that as well. Stranger than strange in Brazil there was a 2 door version of the Santana (Quantum) built for several years I am currently trying to round up some pictures of this car as this can bring some interesting details into building a type44 2 door coupe. another wacky idea I had.

| PROJECT T44 | PAST PROJECTS | MY OTHER AUDIS | FAW | MY BUSINESS | designed by: paulfern quattro-nation, is not in any way related or associated with Audi Gmbh, Quattro Gmbh or Audi of North America or any of it's affiliates around the globe, but if I had something to say about it I would surely bring the type 44 back in grand style.
