Poor children

Help children living on the street

Beneficiaries:

100 street children between 5 and 18 years old, living with small jobs closed to the river Huong Giang embankment.

Global goals:

-          to welcome street children who come from disadvantaged families living in the village Vat, Hues and the outskirts;

-          to give them accommodation, food, clothes, basic education.

Objectives:

-          to employ teachers to organise the framework and the education of children;

-          to ensure a place to live different than the street, to provide medical care and answers to their needs to live in the present and to develop in the future;

-          to make it possible for them to access different education systems at school and in the professional life;

-          to give them a possibility to learn a profession other than small jobs.

This project has been developed since 2004 by three sisters from St Paul de Chartres and 22 voluntary students. Every Sunday we bring children together to give them English courses and ethics courses. We also organise activities and we give them lunch. We ensure the school fees for 50 children in state schools. We hire teachers for other 50 older children rejected by state schools. Thus we provide them with vocational training:

13 children are taking classes in motorcycle repairs;

20 girls are taking classes in dressmaking:

            +12 are in enterprise courses

            +8 are taking classes provided by sisters from St Paul de Chartres in Thien Huu, Hue.

1.e. For poor preschool children

40 nurseries and 123 kindergarten groups in 9 villages and provinces provide care to 5.942 children the majority of whom come from poor families. We have been working since 1989 to facilitate access to high quality medical care for all the children. We know how important child protection is, especially for large families and people living in poverty because of the unemployment.
